From Mrs. Green: Congratulations to our first MS Artist of the Month Vaniah Watson. See her work in the glass display case in the lobby.

ALSO From Mrs. Green: Congratulations to Lucas Signes for winning the Peace Poster Contest for Valhalla. Runners up were Hala Choura, Karina Han, and Aarav Sikriwal.

Attention all high school science classes: The AP Biology Class is running a campaign to determine who is the MOST IMPORTANT ORGANELLE! Please refer to the posters that will be posted around the school, which display a QR code that will direct you to their Campaign Site. Informational pamphlets will also be available in the morning before school and during lunch. You will be asked to vote on which organelle will capture the title of MOST IMPORTANT ORGANELLE! Voting opens on Tuesday and closes on Friday.

From Ms. Martino: Attention all students, Grades 6-12. Anyone interested in participating in the Making Strides Against Breast Cancer Walk, please come and see me. The walk is on Sunday, October 21st at Manhattanville College.

High Schoolers will meet on Tuesday, October 30th also in the library at 2:30.

For SENIORS: Senior Picture Retakes will be today, Thursday, October 18th by Appointment ONLY. If you'd like to retake your picture, please call Lors at: 908-964-0847 or

Also, Senior Class group “19” photo will take place during 9th period next Tuesday, October 23rd. If you have early dismissal and want to take part in this picture, you must stay until period 9.

For Underclassman: Grades 9 – 11 Picture retakes will be Thursday, October 23rd in the lower gym.

From Ms. LeGendre – The Whitney M. Young, Jr. Society will meet today, Thursday, October 18th at 2:40pm. We will meet in room 111. Please be on time. Should you have any questions, feel free to see Ms. LeGendre in guidance.

From Mrs. Green: the MS Art Club will meet today, Thursday, October 18th at 2:35 in room 203

Attention all students: the next meeting of the Debate Club is today, Thursday, October 18th at 2:40 PM in Room 107.

VMS Book Club: Will meet Tuesday October 23rd from 2:30 – 3:15 in Room 108.

From Mrs. Cirillo and Ms. Granich: Mandatory Meeting for Environment Club this Tuesday October 23rd at 2:35pm. Meeting place will be announced on Monday. Please join us even if you missed the first meeting! It’s all good! We will be going over the new recycling program and discussing your role as an Environment Club member, and other important matters. Please make every effort to attend.

From Coach Block: Preseason hoop meeting for girls basketball is Monday, October 29th at 2:50 pm in Cafeteria A

From Ms. Martino: The Helping Hands Club will be collecting box tops again this year to raise money for VMS. Middle school students, please give your box tops to your period 1 teacher. The winning class will enjoy an ice cream party at the end of the year. High school students and any staff that does not have a period 1 class, please drop them off in the collection bin located in the main office. The collection will end on Feb 8th.

From Ms. Martino: The Helping Hands Club will be collecting pull tabs again this year to benefit the Ronald McDonald House. Collection bins are located in each cafeteria and the main office. Parties are great opportunities to collect a bunch! The collection will end the first week of June when we will visit the Ronald McDonald House to drop them off.

From Guidance - SENIORS: Log into Naviance to see the list of colleges that will be visiting Valhalla High School. The list will tell you the day and time of the visits. Seniors should sign up through Naviance. After signing up, check your email a day or two before the visit to see a reminder to attend the visit. Print the reminder. The printed reminder will be your pass to the college visit. If you have any questions, please call or see Ms. Bonifacio in the guidance office.
